STATS – Understanding the Statistics Behind the Female Delusion Calculator

The Female Delusion Calculator provides users with insights into relationship expectations by processing statistical data from two primary sources: the 2023 Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) of the Current Population Survey (CPS) conducted by the U.S. stats Census Bureau, and the 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

This combination allows for a comprehensive analysis of income, marital status, height, and body mass index (BMI).

Data Sources – Stats

  1. Income and Marital Status: The ASEC survey provides valuable insights into income levels and marital status across various demographics. By utilizing this data, the calculator can determine relationship expectations based on economic stability and social factors.
  2. Height and Body Mass Index (BMI): Height and BMI information are sourced from the NHANES survey. Although more recent data would typically be preferred, the 2017-2018 data was used due to the suspension of survey operations in March 2020. BMI is calculated using weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared, providing an essential metric for evaluating health and body composition.

Excluding Married Individuals

The exclude married option allows users to filter out married individuals from the data set. The ASEC survey categorizes marital status into various groups, including married (with spouse present or absent), separated, divorced, widowed, and never married. By selecting this option, users can focus solely on single individuals, providing a clearer picture of available dating prospects.

Race Options

To simplify the user experience, the calculator presents four race options based on the 28 categories available in the ASEC survey. Users can choose from:

  • All races and combinations
  • Non-Hispanic White
  • Pure Black
  • Pure Asian

This streamlined selection helps users navigate the calculator more efficiently.

Excluding Obese Individuals

The exclude obese option filters out individuals with a BMI of 30 or higher. This feature allows users to refine their search based on health and fitness criteria, aligning with personal preferences in partner selection.

Limitations of the Calculator

While the Female Delusion Calculator aims to merge the ASEC and NHANES data to provide reliable results, it is essential to recognize its limitations. Ideally, a single comprehensive survey would contain all relevant data, including age, marital status, race, height, BMI, and personal income.

However, due to the lack of such a unified data set, the calculator must run independent searches for income and body measures before combining the results. This process may lead to minor inaccuracies, as correlations between income and height or weight are not fully accounted for.

Despite these limitations, the calculator offers a useful estimate for users, helping them gauge their relationship expectations within a realistic framework. Remember to interpret the final percentage with a grain of caution, as the results are based on statistical probabilities rather than definitive outcomes.
